[Apple Turns to NVIDIA as M2 Ultra Chip Fails to Meet Advanced AI Demands] Odaily Planet Daily reports that Apple is shifting to rely on NVIDIA GPUs to support its artificial intelligence business after its self-developed M2 Ultra chip failed to meet expectations in handling advanced AI workloads. Sources indicate that Apple previously attempted to use its own servers to run Google's Gemini model to provide AI capabilities for the new version of Siri, but the chip's performance fell short of requirements. As a result, Apple had to resort to using NVIDIA GPUs deployed on Google Cloud. Additionally, the development of Apple's next-generation AI server chip, 'Baltra,' has been delayed, and the M7 Ultra chip, which is expected to challenge the performance of NVIDIA's Blackwell architecture, is unlikely to be launched before 2029.
