[Masayoshi Son Predicts 100 Trillion AI Agents by 2040, AI to Become the Largest Industry in Human History]
According to a report by Golden Finance on July 15, citing Japan's Yomiuri Shimbun, SoftBank Group Chairman and CEO Masayoshi Son stated at the annual "SoftBank World" conference held in Tokyo on Tuesday that by 2040, the number of AI agents is expected to reach 100 trillion, humanoid robots will reach 1 billion, and AI will become "the largest industry in human history." He pointed out that by 2040, AI will contribute approximately 20% of global GDP, adding that "100 trillion AI agents interacting with each other will shift society to be centered around agents rather than humans, fundamentally changing the global landscape."
Regarding the impact of humanoid robots, Masayoshi Son noted that robots can operate 24 hours a day, equivalent to 3 billion human workers, and perform tasks faster, more accurately, and more meticulously, becoming the core of the labor force. He also emphasized that the expansion of data centers is key to realizing this vision, predicting that by 2040, electricity consumption will double, requiring an annual investment of approximately $5 trillion (800 trillion yen).
On future business strategies, Masayoshi Son stated that the AI revolution should not be confined to Japan and that resources must be concentrated on the United States, which he described as the core battlefield. (Golden Finance)
