[Federal Reserve Governor Bowman: The Fed Should Not Overly Intervene in Banks' Use of New Technologies Like Artificial Intelligence] According to a report by Jinse Finance, on July 15, Federal Reserve Governor Bowman stated that lending institutions have a better understanding of the risks brought by innovation and should be allowed to decide for themselves when to adopt new technologies such as artificial intelligence. Speaking at a conference on financial inclusion, Bowman said: 'When and how to innovate depends on each bank and its management. They understand their customers, communities, and risk tolerance better than we do.' Bowman also stated that the Federal Reserve should 'set clear expectations, maintain transparency, and not interfere in individual business decisions related to innovation.' Bowman's remarks come as senior officials are assessing the impact of the rapid development of artificial intelligence platforms, including the new Mythos AI model launched by Anthropic. Earlier on Tuesday, Federal Reserve Vice Chair Barr, speaking at the same conference, said that while he welcomes the emergence of innovation, it remains unclear whether artificial intelligence will reduce or exacerbate income and wealth inequality.
