[Israel and Lebanon Hold Talks in Rome, Focus on Implementing Pilot Withdrawal Plan]
According to a report by Jinse Finance, on July 15, Israel and Lebanon began their sixth round of talks on the 14th local time in Rome, Italy. This round of negotiations will last for two days, with the first day's discussions concluding on the evening of the same day, Israeli time. This marks the first meeting between the two countries since they signed a framework agreement in Washington, D.C., last month.
It is reported that the talks are centered on a pilot plan, specifically discussing the detailed implementation of the initial withdrawal of Israeli forces from two pilot areas in southern Lebanon. Under this plan, the Lebanese government forces will enter the areas vacated by the Israeli military to ensure that the region is free of Hezbollah weapons.
Earlier this week, a U.S. military delegation met with senior Lebanese military officials in Beirut to conduct preliminary discussions on implementing the withdrawal plan. Israeli Foreign Minister Saar stated on the afternoon of the 14th that Israel is ready to advance the implementation of the two pilot areas and hopes that the discussions in Rome during this round will help move the process forward.
