According to The Block, distributed computing startup Boundless announced that it is expanding its network of approximately 4,000 GPUs from providing zero-knowledge proof (ZK proving) settlement for chains like Ethereum and Base to supporting AI inference workloads. The company stated that it has optimized hardware, task scheduling, and routing, and will continue to run the original ZK network in parallel. Additionally, it plans to require AI operators to stake native tokens ZKC in order to join the network, with the staking amount tied to their revenue cap. Boundless claims that by leveraging consumer-grade GPUs and existing hardware used for mining and proving, its asynchronous inference costs can be reduced by up to 50% compared to major cloud service providers.
