Looks like it's not the right time to buy the AI dip just yet!
Reuters reports that New York has become the first state in the U.S. to pause large-scale new data center projects, with a one-year ban.
The reason? Concerns that the AI boom could drive up electricity costs, strain water supplies, and burden local communities.
Governor Hochul stated that she will push for legislation to remove sales tax exemptions for large data centers and require officials to draft a universal environmental impact statement to standardize new project guidelines.
