SK Hynix accelerates the construction of Longin Semiconductor Cluster and has initiated the procurement of Y1 wafer fab equipment BlockBeats News: On July 14th, according to South Korean media ZDNET, SK Hynix has started purchasing equipment for the first phase clean room of the first wafer fab Y1 in the Longin Semiconductor cluster. The initial plan is to increase the monthly production capacity of 20000 pieces of 1c DRAM. Y1 was originally planned to open the first phase of the cleanroom in May 2027, but it has now been advanced to February 2027. The company plans to start the construction of a trial production line and carry out formal equipment installation from March to April, expanding the monthly production capacity of 20000 pieces. This production line mainly produces the sixth generation 10 nanometer level 1c DRAM, which can be used for AI related high value-added DDR and LPDDR products, and is planned to be applied to HBM4E commercialized as early as 2027. To accelerate the import of equipment, SK Hynix has also advanced the negotiation of equipment pricing contracts, which usually takes place at the end of the year, to the beginning of the third quarter. SK Hynix is synchronously accelerating the overall construction progress of Longin Semiconductor Cluster. The total investment of this project is about 600 trillion Korean won, consisting of four wafer fabs. The completion target of the fourth wafer fab has been advanced from 2045 to 2033; The construction of the second and third phase clean rooms for Y1 is expected to begin in the second half of this year.
