[Volatility in South Korea's Stock Market Hits Highest Level Since the 1998 Asian Financial Crisis]
According to a report by Jinse Finance on July 13, driven by the artificial intelligence boom, South Korea's stock market has benefited the most significantly. At the same time, the current volatility in South Korea's stock market has reached levels comparable to the peak of the 1998 Asian financial crisis. Data shows that an indicator measuring the 60-day price volatility of the MSCI Korea Index has risen to its highest level since February 1998, even surpassing the levels seen during the 2008 global financial crisis. Previously, fueled by frenzied trading and substantial leveraged funds, the MSCI Korea Index reached a historic high. Currently, the index has dropped 28% from its June peak and plunged 10% on Monday, falling back to levels seen more than two months ago.
