According to The Nation, the Bank of Thailand (BOT) plans to further crack down on 'gray money' and illegal fund flows in Q4. Individuals depositing cash amounts of 5 million baht (approximately $150,000) or more will be required to formally declare and verify the source of funds.
In the digital asset space, the Bank of Thailand is collaborating with the Thai SEC to use data analytics to review large stablecoin transactions, with a focus on USDT. Regulators stated that some transactions may involve hiding the actual owner or bypassing domestic remittance channels to transfer funds. The investigation results have been submitted to the Thai SEC for further regulatory and enforcement actions.
