[Iran's Revolutionary Guard Announces Closure of the Strait of Hormuz]
According to Jin10 reports, the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Navy announced in the early hours that the Strait of Hormuz will be closed effective immediately, and no vessels are permitted to pass. The statement noted that Iran had previously declared that actions by foreign forces interfering in the affairs of the Strait of Hormuz or illegally designating navigation routes for vessels would be met with a "firm response" from Iran. Due to the unsafe situation caused by illegal interference from foreign forces, the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed effective immediately until further notice and until the United States ceases its interference in the region.
The statement added that several hours earlier, multiple vessels attempted to navigate along routes not approved by Iran, ignoring Iran's instructions and warnings to correct their course. One of the vessels turned off its automatic identification system and was hit by warning shots from Iran, forcing it to halt. The statement further warned that if the U.S. uses this incident as a pretext to launch new attacks on Iran, Iran will respond fiercely and target more U.S. bases in the Middle East.
