[Iran's Revolutionary Guard Claims Warning Shots Fired at a Violating Vessel, Strait of Hormuz Temporarily Closed] According to a report by Jinse Finance on July 12, citing CCTV, the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy issued a statement in the early hours of July 12 local time, claiming that warning shots were fired at a vessel in the Strait of Hormuz. The statement noted that several vessels attempted to deviate from the approved navigation route, ignored Iranian warnings and reminders, and refused to adjust their course to follow the designated route. One vessel, which had shut down its systems and endangered maritime navigation safety, was subjected to warning shots and forced to halt. The statement declared that, as the current unsafe situation was "caused by illegal interference from foreign forces," the Strait of Hormuz would be temporarily closed until further notice. It added that no vessels would be allowed to pass until the United States ceases its interference in the region. Furthermore, if "aggressors" use this incident as a pretext to take wrongful actions or launch another attack on Iran, the Iranian side will respond with greater intensity and target new enemy military bases in the region.
