APPLE JUST SUED OPENAI FOR ALLEGEDLY STEALING ITS ENTIRE HARDWARE PLAYBOOK.
"Decades of innovation." That is how Apple describes what it says OpenAI took.
The allegations, filed in federal court today:
- OpenAI's own hardware chief, Tang Tan, a 24 year Apple veteran, allegedly told job candidates to bring actual Apple parts to interviews for "show and tell."
- A former Apple engineer, Chang Liu, allegedly kept a company laptop after leaving and downloaded dozens of confidential files. He reportedly discovered he could still access Apple's internal cloud storage and messaged a former colleague, "LOL, I found out I can access the network storage, so funny."
Apple's own words: "OpenAI's nascent hardware business now rests on the shakiest of foundations, rotten to its core."
OpenAI's response: "We have no interest in other companies' trade secrets."
This is now a lawsuit, not a settled fact.
