According to the latest research from the Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance, nearly one-third of Ethereum node activity is hosted in the U.S., while the EU (excluding the UK) accounts for about 39%. Overall, node distribution is primarily concentrated in Europe and North America but is not dominated by any single country. Most nodes are hosted on cloud service providers like Hetzner, AWS, and OVH. Research lead Alexander Neumuller stated that if more than one-third of validators go offline simultaneously, Ethereum checkpoints would stop finalizing. The network should maintain geographical decentralization, and the concentration of client software also poses risks—vulnerabilities in a dominant client could impact the entire network. Additionally, the study reevaluated Ethereum's energy consumption post-Merge, estimating the current annual electricity usage at approximately 7.9 GWh, a reduction of about 99.98% compared to pre-Merge levels. Over 56% of the energy used comes from sustainable sources. (The Block) https://www.(wublock123.com)/news/cambridge-study-us-hosts-nearly-one-third-ethereum-nodes-eu-39-percent-64411
