China is set to achieve its first controlled nuclear fusion power generation around 2030! Two toroidal field magnets, each weighing 582 tons, have successfully passed full-load testing. These are the largest superconducting magnets ever built for fusion devices globally. The delivery of this core hardware directly supports China's official roadmap to achieve its first controlled nuclear fusion power generation by around 2030. Behind this groundbreaking project, which aims to revolutionize global energy distribution, are the dual technological advancements of the EAST Tokamak device in Hefei and the HL-3 Tokamak device in Chengdu. Currently, the EAST device holds the world record for sustaining plasma operation at 100 million degrees Celsius for 1,066 seconds, while the HL-3 device has successfully heated atomic nuclei to 117 million degrees Celsius—nearly 8 times the temperature of the Sun's core.
