[Temporary Export Ban on Helium Imposed Jointly by China's Ministry of Commerce and General Administration of Customs]
According to an announcement by China's Ministry of Commerce and the General Administration of Customs, starting from July 10, 2026, a temporary export ban will be imposed on helium (Customs Commodity Code: 2804290010). Helium is a critical strategic material for the manufacturing of advanced semiconductors, AI chips, and HBM memory. Against the backdrop of continued global supply constraints and geopolitical factors affecting major production regions, this measure will further tighten the supply in the international market, potentially driving up global helium prices and increasing costs across the semiconductor supply chain, while prioritizing the supply of strategic resources domestically.
