[Meta Denies Excess Computing Power: Sometimes Renting Out is More Valuable than Internal Use]
BlockBeats News, July 10, Meta Platforms CEO Mark Zuckerberg stated that the company needs to acquire as much computing power as possible. However, in a market where resources required to operate and develop AI products are scarce, he is also considering whether renting out part of Meta's AI infrastructure to external companies could bring greater value. Zuckerberg mentioned that in certain situations, renting out computing resources or considering such transactions might be more reasonable than internal use.
According to reports earlier this month, Meta is formulating a cloud business plan—this will help the company directly generate revenue through its data centers and other computing power collaboration projects. Zuckerberg stated that there is definitely potential to establish a cloud business if they choose to pursue it. He emphasized that this does not mean Meta has overbuilt or possesses excess computing power. "I don't know anyone in the industry who feels they have excess computing power," he said. He added that Meta is currently fully utilizing all of its computing resources. (Jin10)
