According to *Reuters*, Meta Platforms plans to begin production of its in-house AI chip, codenamed "Iris," starting this September. An internal memo reveals that the chip is part of Meta's internal MTIA accelerator project, aimed at enhancing AI performance on platforms like Facebook and Instagram while reducing reliance on third-party chip suppliers such as Nvidia and AMD. The Iris chip's testing progressed rapidly, taking only six weeks with no major issues. Meta will produce the chip through a collaboration with Broadcom for design and TSMC for manufacturing. Additionally, Meta is aggressively expanding its computing infrastructure, with plans to deploy 7 GW of computing power by 2026 and double that to 14 GW by 2027. To support this expansion, Meta has signed long-term supply agreements for memory, flash storage, and optical fiber equipment with Samsung Electronics, Sandisk, and Sumitomo Electric. https://www.(wublock123.com)/news/news-64306
