Chalk CEO Zhang Xiaolong, who advised people to speculate in the US stock market, has resigned
Chalk Co., Ltd. announced on July 8th that Zhang Xiaolong has resigned from his positions as Executive Director, CEO, and Chairman of the Board due to personal matters.
In June of this year, Zhang Xiaolong changed the theme of a lecture at Renmin University of China to "Career Planning in the AI Era" and told the students present that the most promising employment direction in the future is to speculate in the US stock market, which sparked controversy due to inappropriate language.
Coincidentally, when he spoke these words, it was during a period when the US stock market was continuously breaking new historical highs - the S&P 500 index rose to 7600 points for the first time in early June, setting a new closing high for several consecutive trading days.
Afterwards, the overall US stock market maintained high volatility, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average breaking through 52000 points in mid June. In early July, there was a slight correction due to profit taking, and the S&P 500 fell back to around 7500 points.
On the other hand, the stock price of Chalk itself has fallen below 1 Hong Kong dollar in April and has become a "penny stock". As of July 8th, it closed at 0.465 Hong Kong dollars, with a total market value of only 1.041 billion Hong Kong dollars, evaporating more than 90% from its peak. Since that speech, it has fallen another 30%.
After the announcement of his resignation on July 9th, the stock price of Chalk rose sharply at the opening
