[U.S. Tech Giants Have Raised Approximately $182 Billion Through Bond Issuances This Year, Far Surpassing Last Year's $13 Billion]
According to Bloomberg, since the beginning of this year, tech giants such as Amazon, Alphabet, Nvidia, Meta, Oracle, and SpaceX have collectively raised approximately $182 billion through investment-grade bond issuances exceeding $25 billion per issuance. This figure far surpasses the less than $13 billion raised during the same period last year, with the funds primarily allocated to infrastructure spending on artificial intelligence and data centers.
Market enthusiasm for subscribing to such 'mega' bond issuances has somewhat cooled. Amazon's latest $25 billion bond issuance saw orders only 1.6 times the issuance size, while SpaceX's $25 billion bond issued last month underperformed U.S. Treasuries in the secondary market. Some institutions are concerned that the continued large-scale bond issuances in the tech and AI sectors over the coming years may increase portfolio concentration and repricing risks.
