[Wenling Police Expose Virtual Currency Investment Fraud, Victim Scammed Out of 445,000 Yuan in 20 Days] Odaily Planet Daily News: Wenling Public Security Bureau reported a case of virtual currency investment fraud. The victim, Mr. Cui, met a blogger on a social media platform who claimed to be a senior investment mentor. Using the lure of guaranteed profits from virtual currency investments, the scammer enticed Mr. Cui to initially make small profits and then persuaded him to download a fake investment app. Over just 20 days, Mr. Cui cumulatively deposited 445,000 yuan. When he attempted to withdraw his supposed profits as shown on the app, he found himself unable to log in, and all the scammers involved had disappeared. The police remind the public that virtual currency-related activities are explicitly classified as illegal financial activities in China. Any promotion of virtual currency investments promising high returns and guaranteed profits is a scam. Citizens are urged to enhance their awareness of fraud prevention and not to trust unfamiliar online investment mentors.
