SpaceX AI and Cursor will release Grok 4.5 tomorrow, aiming to compete with Claude Opus 4.8 and GPT-5.5. Currently, SpaceX is moving forward with a deal to acquire Cursor's parent company, Anysphere, for approximately $60 billion. The two parties have already begun collaborating on model development. Back in June, Elon Musk revealed that Grok 4.5 had entered internal beta testing within SpaceX and Tesla. This model is built on the V9 foundational model with 1.5 trillion parameters, supplemented with Cursor's data for additional training, focusing on enhancing capabilities like code generation and engineering development. Early evaluations suggest that Grok 4.5's performance is on par with, or may even surpass, Claude Opus. Previously, Cursor founder Michael Truell also disclosed that the company is developing a new model designed to compete with top-tier models from Anthropic and OpenAI, marking the next phase of Cursor's growth.
