Last year, I introduced the Trump Account, which was only a policy expectation at the time
On July 4, 2026, the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States, the Trump Account was officially launched, which is a national level investment account opened by the US government for the next generation
The latest progress is:
1/Formally operational: According to data from the Ministry of Finance, approximately 5.5 million Trump Accounts have been opened, of which around 1.4 million are eligible to receive $1000 government seed funding. This money is not sent to the parents, but is deposited into the child's investment account, which is defaulted to be invested in low rate funds tracking the S&P 500. It can only be invested before the age of 18 and cannot be withdrawn
2/Wall Street has entered: The default investment option is State Street managed, low rate funds that track the S&P 500. BlackRock, Vanguard, and others will also join in the future
3/Corporate benefits start to follow up: Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley have announced that they will match an additional $1000 to Trump accounts of eligible employees' children
4/Rich Charity is also filling the gap: Dell founders Michael Dell and Susan Dell have pledged to donate $6.25 billion, providing an additional $250 per person to eligible children aged 10 and under; Ray Dalio, Micron, and others have also made similar donations
The essence of this thing is that the United States is designing top-level systems to connect the next generation from birth to the capital market and to the core assets of the United States that come with compound interest
If calculated on an annualized basis of over 10%, after 18 years, 1000 will become $5800. If parents invest an additional $5000 per year, it will be on the order of $270000 in 18 years
The first time young people truly felt the power of compound interest was with the money they had passively bought into the US stock index when they were born, which was much more three-dimensional than attending a finance class or reading a finance book
