[ING: Yen Intervention Risk Remains, Next Window Could Be July 16-17]
Reported by Golden Finance, July 6 — ING analyst Chris Turner stated in a report that although last Friday's highly anticipated intervention did not materialize, Japanese authorities may still act later this month to support the yen. He noted that during Friday's quiet trading session caused by the U.S. holiday, Japanese authorities stayed on the sidelines, allowing the dollar to climb back above ¥162. 'This may serve as a reminder to the market that Tokyo prefers to use its limited foreign exchange reserves cautiously.' The next potential intervention window could be July 16-17, just before Japan's next public holiday on July 20. (Jin10)
