[€1.5 Million Crypto Scam in France Uncovered, Mother and Son Arrested]
According to *Nice-Matin*, police in the Var department of France successfully uncovered a €1.5 million cryptocurrency scam after a year-long investigation, arresting a mother and son involved in the case. The duo carried out a 'Rip Deal' (fraudulent sales) scam, falsely claiming they could facilitate the purchase of luxury properties. They lured a wealthy couple from Ramatuelle to Milan, demanding €1.5 million in cryptocurrency as a transaction guarantee fee. During the operation, the suspects used concealed cameras to secretly record and steal the victims' cryptocurrency account information and private keys, subsequently transferring all crypto assets. The police arrested the mother and son in Cavalaire and simultaneously seized properties worth €1.9 million under the suspects' names. Both suspects have a history of multiple fraud-related offenses and are scheduled to stand trial on September 1, facing several criminal charges related to organized group fraud.
