According to The Star, the South Klang police in Malaysia conducted a raid around 9:30 AM on July 3 at a warehouse in the Port Klang Free Zone, uncovering a case of suspected electricity theft for cryptocurrency mining. Police reported that a local man and a foreign national, aged 20 and 31 respectively, were arrested during the operation, and equipment used for crypto mining was seized on-site. The case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code and Section 37(1) of the Electricity Supply Act 1990; the former carries a maximum penalty of 5 years imprisonment, a fine, or both, while the latter carries a maximum penalty of 5 years imprisonment, a fine of up to RM100,000, or both.
