[Upbit: The company will not participate in the issuance of OUSD, but may consider involvement in ecosystem expansion in the future]
According to a report by Jinse Finance, on July 3, South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Upbit stated that the company will not participate in the issuance of Open USD. Previously, its operator Dunamu was listed among more than 140 companies involved in the new stablecoin initiative.
A spokesperson for Upbit said: 'Upbit is only considering the possibility of participating in the future expansion of the OpenStandard ecosystem.'
Previously, Samsung Electronics and other South Korean companies listed by OpenStandard expressed similar opinions. Samsung stated that it has not yet held formal discussions regarding the project and is unclear about the role it needs to play. Meanwhile, Shinhan Financial Group and Kasikornbank indicated that they are only considering the initiative.
