[Alibaba Reportedly Implements Comprehensive Ban on Claude, Employees Required to Uninstall Anthropic Products Like Claude Code]
According to monitoring by Beating, Alibaba issued an internal notice today announcing a complete cessation of the use of Anthropic-related products. Employees have been instructed to uninstall models and agent tools such as Claude Sonnet, Claude Opus, and Claude Code. The ban is expected to officially take effect on July 10. Since the beginning of this year, Alibaba has actively encouraged employees to use AI, not only providing free quotas for internal models but also reimbursing expenses for external models like Claude, GPT, and Gemini. Many developers have long been using Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, and Alibaba's self-developed Qoder in combination. This ban signifies that Claude will be removed from Alibaba's internal development toolchain.
The adjustment is reportedly linked to Anthropic's recent tightening of risk controls for Chinese users. In June, Anthropic submitted materials to the U.S. Senate accusing Alibaba of engaging in high-frequency interactions with Claude through numerous accounts, labeling it as an "industrial-grade model distillation attack." Subsequently, tensions between the two parties have escalated, and a significant number of Chinese user accounts have recently been banned. [Original Link]
