Solana's price has been holding up a bit recently, largely due to the announcement from its foundation yesterday about restructuring Solana's governance model. Now, node validators with over 100,000 SOL staked can propose on-chain proposals. Previously, all Solana upgrades were led by the core team, discussed and decided on Discord and GitHub, and didn’t require a voting process. Once the community reached a consensus, the updates were directly announced for client upgrades. But now, this process has been moved on-chain. Super whales with over 100,000 SOL staked can initiate proposals, and all stakers can vote on-chain.
This makes Solana more decentralized in terms of governance, and most importantly, it gives token holders the power to propose and vote, which in turn empowers the token price.
