[Trump: Will Not Sign Housing Bill Before Signing Election Bill] According to a report by Golden Finance on July 3, citing CNBC, U.S. President Trump on Thursday refused to commit to signing a bipartisan-supported housing bill—which had easily passed Congress more than a week ago—and instead shifted the focus to a controversial election bill, known as the 'SAVE America Act.' Trump stated that he would not sign the housing bill until Congress submitted the election bill for his signature. Trump said: 'I believe the SAVE America Act is the most important bill we currently have, and it will remain so for many years to come, if not longer.' The bill would require voters to present photo identification when voting and provide proof of citizenship when registering to vote. When discussing the housing bill, Trump remarked: 'There are many provisions in it proposed by Democrats that I even think are inappropriate, but that's okay. However, I have made my position clear: before signing the SAVE America Act, I would rather not sign any bill at all.'
