[GF Securities: Meta's Current Computing Power May Still Be Limited, At Least No Idle Computing Power Exists]
Market reports suggest that social media giant Meta may establish Meta Compute to sell model API services and idle GPU computing power, sparking concerns about Meta's capital expenditures and intensified competition with Neocloud. In response to this news, GF Securities stated that Meta's plan to sell computing power is not new information. During the shareholder meeting in May, Meta's CEO mentioned that if the computing power built by Meta exceeds internal needs, they would consider selling excess computing power or launching API services. GF Securities pointed out that Meta's current computing power may still be limited. Reports indicate that Meta has asked employees to improve token usage efficiency, and at least for now, Meta does not have idle computing power. Meanwhile, Meta is enhancing its computing power through internal infrastructure development and external collaborations.
'Meta prioritizes cost control but may not necessarily reduce CAPEX. Given the high rental prices for computing power, Meta might commercialize its AI infrastructure to confirm short- to mid-term revenue and free cash flow (FCF), while building a lower-cost architecture to address rising memory costs,' GF Securities further noted.
