[Iranian Military Issues Stern Warning: 'Brutal Retaliation' for Any Attacks During Khamenei's State Funeral]
BlockBeats News, July 2 – Iran is preparing for the state funeral of former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, with the military issuing a severe warning. Commander Ali Abdollahi of the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters of the Iranian Armed Forces stated: 'We warn the United States and Israel not to make any miscalculations. Any threat or aggression will be met with brutal retaliation by Iran's armed forces.' Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi also took to social media, urging Trump to 'keep his pawns in Tel Aviv in check.'
Funeral arrangements: The funeral procession will begin on July 4 in Tehran and conclude with the burial in Mashhad on July 9, with commemorative events held in Qom and Iraq during this period. Iran has heightened national security measures and imposed temporary airspace restrictions in multiple regions. Iranian Parliament Speaker Ghalibaf has called on the public to participate in large numbers in the funeral, 'so that the cries for revenge echo across the world.'
Currently, the next round of indirect U.S.-Iran talks is set to commence after the funeral, focusing on the implementation of the ceasefire memorandum, the unfreezing of frozen assets, and issues related to the Strait of Hormuz. Sharp disagreements persist between the two sides over freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. Khamenei was killed on February 28, the first day of the war, during an airstrike. His son, Mojtaba Khamenei, has since succeeded him as Supreme Leader.
