[SK Hynix: Plans to invest 80 trillion KRW in new NAND production line by 2029] DeepTech TechFlow reports that on July 2, SK Hynix announced Thursday that the company plans to invest 80 trillion KRW (approximately $51.46 billion) to build a new NAND flash memory chip factory. The new plant is expected to commence operations in 2029 to address the storage chip shortage driven by the AI boom. According to plans unveiled at an event attended by the company's CEO and South Korean President Lee Jae-myung, the CEO stated that SK Hynix intends to begin construction of the new M17 factory in Cheongju, South Korea, next year. Additionally, the chipmaker plans to invest another 20 trillion KRW to build a chip packaging factory in Cheongju, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2027. (Jin10)
