President Trump's powers have expanded!
The Supreme Court ruled that officials in the executive branch, whose positions stem from presidential appointments, must be 'accountable to the President.' This expands the President's authority to dismiss most independent agency officials. However, the court maintained special protections for the Federal Reserve. Since the Fed was established by Congress, it has its own removal process.
