Bank of America strategist: FOMC participants are following Walsh's willingness to speak less
According to a report by Golden Finance, on July 1st, Bank of America stated that the number of public appearances by Federal Reserve officials significantly decreased in the two weeks following the June policy meeting, which may be an early signal that Chairman Walsh is implementing a more low-key communication strategy. Bank of America strategists pointed out that since the June FOMC meeting, including events scheduled as of this weekend, Federal Reserve officials have only given 12 speeches and interviews. By contrast, since 2022, the average number of appearances during the same one to two week period after a Federal Reserve meeting has been about 23. This may indicate that FOMC participants are following Walsh's willingness to speak less, but it could also be due to the July 4th holiday and Fed officials having no further updates on the guidance released in June. Time will prove whether this is a new trend or just noise.
