Sovright launches Argos wallet recovery tool to support early Zcash users in recovering 'frozen' funds Odaily Planet Daily News: Sovright (a non-profit successor organization for Zcash research and development related to Electric Coin Company) has officially released a wallet recovery tool called "Argos", aimed at helping early Zcash users recover funds that were "stuck" due to the discontinuation of maintenance of the old version ZEC Wallet Lite in 2022. Michelle Lai, Chairman of the Executive Board of Sovright, stated that Argos can restore affected assets while users still hold old wallet mnemonic words. However, as it only involves specific shielded addresses, the scale of the impact cannot be accurately calculated. Nevertheless, it is estimated that the "amount is considerable" and mainly concentrated in the early long-term holder group. She referred to the issue as a long-standing "technical pitfall" in the community, which, although inconspicuous, continues to erode user trust. Sovright currently consists of only three core members, all from the former Bootstrap system. The team is also testing a privacy oriented Zcash mining pool to reduce computing power concentration and enhance network decentralization. The governance structure of the organization's predecessor has undergone significant adjustments. Employees of Electric Coin Company have collectively left and established a new entity, Zcash Open Development Lab (ZODL), with support from institutions such as Paradigm and a16z, to focus on Zcash related product development. Sovright emphasized that there is no opposing relationship with ZODL and stated that it will continue to focus on addressing the "long-term legacy issues" in the Zcash ecosystem, including key pain points such as wallet availability and infrastructure stability.
