The Ethereum Foundation has fulfilled its five-year funding commitment to the Argo Collective, with approximately 4938 stETH to be unlocked in batches
According to BlockBeats, on June 30th, Argo Collective and the Ethereum Foundation (EF) announced that they have completed the final phase of their initial five-year funding commitment, with approximately 4938 stETH to be transferred to a multi signature wallet and unlocked in batches on July 1, 2026 and July 1, 2027, respectively. The previous three years of funding were fully disbursed last year, and the remaining two years have been postponed due to the terms and governance arrangements still being finalized. Currently, all of them have been completed. The fund is managed by a 2-of-3 multi signature wallet consisting of three parties: Argo, the newly established "Failure Protection Committee," and the Ethereum Foundation. The committee will serve as an independent arbitrator to maintain Argo's independence in case of disputes and provide professional advice in the fields of programming languages and compilers. The Argo Collective also pointed out that although this agreement provides substantial operational guarantees, broader challenges still exist: the Ethereum Foundation has limited funds, and the public infrastructure supporting DeFi, staking, and core protocols cannot rely on a single sponsor for the long term. The organization stated that it will continue to release transparency reports and roadmap updates every six months. [Original link]
