[Samsung Electronics Accelerates 1.4nm Advanced Process Development, Deepens Collaboration with Applied Materials and Lam Research] According to a report by Jinse Finance, on June 30, South Korean media outlet The Bell stated on the 26th local time that Samsung Electronics is accelerating the development of its 1.4nm (SF1.4) process node. This advanced process was initially planned for mass production in 2027, but due to adjustments in the focus of its foundry business, the mass production timeline has been postponed to 2029. The report noted that Samsung Electronics recently shared its SF1.4 process plans with major semiconductor equipment companies such as Applied Materials and Lam Research, aiming to achieve upstream and downstream collaboration and accelerate the creation of the most suitable equipment portfolio for this node, including customized versions of standard equipment. Samsung Electronics has also introduced High NA EUV lithography equipment from ASML, with this machine deployed at the NRD-K semiconductor R&D complex. For Samsung Electronics, the High NA EUV lithography machine is expected to be used for production as early as the SF1.4 node.
