[The South Korean Government to Invest Trillions of Korean Won in AI and Semiconductor Industries] According to a report by Jinse Finance on June 30, citing CCTV, South Korean President Lee Jae-myung hosted a meeting at the presidential office, Cheong Wa Dae, on June 29, announcing a government investment plan and support measures totaling over trillions of Korean won for the semiconductor, physical artificial intelligence (AI), and AI data center sectors. Under this plan, the South Korean government’s total investment in cutting-edge technologies such as AI and semiconductors will reach 1,461 trillion Korean won (approximately 227 Korean won per 1 Chinese yuan). Among this, 800 trillion Korean won will be allocated to the semiconductor production base in the southwestern region of South Korea, 81 trillion Korean won to the high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chip packaging base in the Chungcheong region, 550 trillion Korean won to AI data centers, and 30 trillion Korean won to next-generation semiconductor research and development.
