[Thailand Issues Arrest Warrant for Chinese Businessman Over "Pig Butchering" Scam, Illegal Mining, and Money Laundering Involving Billions of Dollars]
Odaily Planet Daily reports that the Thai government has officially issued an arrest warrant for Chinese national Wang Yicheng, accusing him of colluding with transnational criminal organizations. He is alleged to have engaged in illegal cryptocurrency "mining" activities to launder money for international internet fraud and online gambling groups, with amounts reaching billions of dollars. Reuters, citing an investigation by blockchain analytics firm TRM Labs, reported that Wang Yicheng's cryptocurrency wallet received at least $9.1 million (approximately HK$71.35 million) between 2021 and 2022, all linked to "pig butchering" scams. Thailand's Department of Special Investigation stated that U.S. law enforcement has confirmed Wang Yicheng's involvement in a digital asset fraud case. U.S. authorities had previously traced stolen funds from a victim in Massachusetts to an account registered under Wang Yicheng's name, seizing approximately $500,000 in cryptocurrency.
