Thailand issues arrest warrant for Chinese businessman suspected of involvement in cross-border cryptocurrency investment fraud case
According to Foresight News, the New Straits Times reported that Thailand has issued an arrest warrant for a Chinese businessman named Wang Yicheng on suspicion of involvement in a cross-border cryptocurrency investment fraud case. The Thai side accused him of participating in a criminal network that launders money through illegal cryptocurrency mining, which uses fraud and online gambling activities to launder money. A spokesperson for the Thai Special Investigation Agency told Reuters that "the suspect is believed to have fled Thailand." He also added that "Thai authorities are cooperating with international counterparts to pursue him." The report stated that Wang was a former leader of the Thai Chinese Trade Association and a key figure in a Chinese investor group suspected of using illegal cryptocurrency mining for money laundering, which came from fraud and online gambling.
