[South Korea Faces 'Eggflation' Again]
According to a report by Jinse Finance, on June 25, the price of eggs in South Korea has recently risen significantly, and the term 'eggflation' has reappeared in South Korean media. Based on data from the Korea Institute for Animal Products Quality Evaluation and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, South Korean media reported that as of mid-month, the retail price of a box of 30 eggs in South Korea was 7,506 KRW (approximately 4.4 RMB per 1,000 KRW), a year-on-year increase of 7.1%. The average retail price of a box of 10 premium eggs rose to 5,229 KRW this month, breaking the 5,000 KRW mark for the first time, up 16.7% from May and nearly 39% higher than the same period last year. Additionally, South Korea's average daily egg supply this month was 47.05 million eggs, a 3.3% decrease compared to the same period last year.
