Midyear Agriculture Outlook: Asking China to Import US Soybeans Looks Like Bad Sign for Ag
The Western Hemisphere has shifted from price taker to price maker in energy, much as Brazil has in soybeans, with implications for global price pressure. The 4Q meeting between Presidents Xi Jinping and Donald Trump marked a bottom in grains; their 2Q meeting may have set a top. Massive Brazilian supply is a key soybean-price headwind, and asking China to import from the US is unlikely to alter ample global stocks-to-use.
