Boafo currently serves as a Maryland State Delegate and has received strong backing from Protect Progress. According to documents from the U.S. Federal Election Commission (FEC), Protect Progress invested $5.5 million in this campaign, with most of the funds directed toward supporting Boafo. Media reports indicate that as of June 3, external groups had collectively invested approximately $8.8 million in Boafo's campaign.
