[Lebanese President States Negotiations Must Ensure 'Israel Ends Occupation of Lebanon'] Golden Finance reported that on June 23, Lebanese President Michel Aoun stated that the Lebanese government would not accept any negotiation outcome that falls short of 'Israel ending its occupation of Lebanese territory and Lebanon regaining full territorial sovereignty.' According to a statement issued by the Lebanese presidential office, Aoun was briefed on the situation of the Lebanese delegation attending the fifth round of Lebanon-U.S.-Israel trilateral talks in Washington, after which he made the above remarks. Aoun emphasized that recent developments have proven that resolving issues through negotiations is the correct approach to achieving Lebanon's national goals and safeguarding national sovereignty. He expressed hope that the negotiations would achieve decisive progress on restoring Lebanon's national sovereignty and ending Israel's occupation of southern Lebanon. On the same day, Aoun also held phone conversations with U.S. Vice President Vance and U.S. Secretary of State Rubio. The parties discussed the latest developments in the Lebanese situation and the phased progress of U.S.-Iran-Switzerland negotiations. Vance and Rubio stated that the United States supports the Lebanese government's stance on advancing comprehensive national authority and strengthening control over all territorial sovereignty. Aoun expressed gratitude to the U.S. for its attention to ending the Lebanese conflict and enhancing Lebanon's national authority. (Xinhua News Agency)
