a16z is just pure trouble. The crypto space is such a mess right now, and a16z is responsible for at least half of it. Don’t be fooled by them acting all innocent, coming out looking all proper and saying stuff like the crypto industry has vision but no foundation, pretending to emphasize that projects need to focus on real business. What a load of crap. The toxic hype culture in crypto today was started by a16z. Even the word 'narrative,' which makes people want to puke now, was popularized by them. They openly defined themselves as a media company back then, packaged a bunch of concepts, and even called for every project to have a Chief Narrative Officer. As the most financially powerful and influential institution in crypto, they shifted the entire culture to reward whoever could hype and tell the best story. Those people would get investments and billion-dollar FDVs. Almost all the infamous VC coins that started strong and crashed hard were created by a16z.
