The attacker manipulated the liquidity pool's reserve data to carry out an arbitrage attack, stealing approximately 1,604 WBNB, valued at around $950,000. Security analysis shows that this attack did not involve flash loans. The attacker called the sync() function of the PancakeSwap liquidity pool, causing a discrepancy between the pool's reserve data and its actual balance. Subsequently, they executed swaps at abnormal prices, exploiting the false pricing to exchange and withdraw assets, ultimately extracting all WBNB liquidity from the trading pool.
