[South Korea's Central Bank Digital Currency to Integrate with Commercial Bank Account Systems]
According to ET News, South Korea's Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) experiment is advancing to a new phase, aiming to achieve integration with the actual account systems of commercial banks. Participating banks are currently building the necessary infrastructure within a central bank-designated testing environment, based on Naver Cloud. This infrastructure includes electronic wallets for customers and merchants, a voucher system for executing fiscal fund payments, digital currency management tools, and blockchain integration modules. The system will eventually connect with the banks' core account ledgers and smart banking services.
