According to the New York Post, the bounty feature launched by meme coin platform Pump fun has sparked controversy. This feature allows users to post tasks and reward completers with cryptocurrency. Since its launch on June 4, it has distributed over $370,000 in rewards, with approximately 270 open bounties and over $200,000 still up for grabs.
The report mentions that some tasks include forehead tattoos, sticking your face into a flushing toilet, quitting your job publicly on video, and even climbing Mount Everest—dangerous or humiliating challenges. A man from the Philippines earned $15,000 worth of crypto for tattooing 'bounty fun' on his forehead. The feature has been criticized by New York Governor Kathy Hochul and X product head Nikita Bier.
