No Mac Relay or Self-Hosting Required, Open-Source Agent Hermes Integrates with iMessage

According to monitoring by Beating, the open-source AI agent framework Hermes Agent has released version v0.17.0, which introduces a direct integration channel with iMessage without requiring Mac hardware as a relay. The new version integrates an iMessage platform plugin based on the Photon Spectrum hosting line pool, allowing users to log in directly via device codes, completely eliminating the need for self-hosting Mac devices or configuring relay gateways like BlueBubbles.
In addition to expanding communication channels, the new version introduces an asynchronous sub-agent design, supporting the delegation of heavy research or construction tasks to background execution via `delegate_task(background=true)`. The main agent can continue interacting with users during task execution without being blocked.
In terms of model support, Hermes Agent integrates with the xAI subscription service, enabling users to directly invoke the `grok-composer-2.5-fast` model (with 200k context) via OAuth authorization, providing Cursor-like Composer rapid programming capabilities without requiring an independent API key.
On the desktop side, a new sub-agent real-time monitoring window, `watch-windows`, has been added, allowing users to stream task execution trajectories in a separate pane and directly install any theme from the VS Code plugin marketplace.
At the underlying mechanism level, the upgraded memory tool now supports atomic execution of add, replace, and delete operations within a single call, enabling more efficient memory release and management within limited character budgets. This significantly reduces the probability of interaction failures caused by memory overflow during multi-turn conversations.
