[UK Court Reviews Case on Direct Debt Repayment in Bitcoin, Judge Favors Compensation in GBP Conversion] According to a report by Golden Finance on June 20, citing Forbes, the Central London County Court reviewed the case of *Hussain v Fix* on June 18. The plaintiff claimed that both parties had agreed to reimburse business expenses in Bitcoin and demanded the defendant repay 7.806501396 BTC. Since the defendant did not appear in court to contest, the court focused on whether it had the authority to directly order debt repayment in Bitcoin. The judge stated that although UK law has recognized Bitcoin as property, it remains uncertain whether the court has the authority to issue a judgment for direct payment in Bitcoin. The judge leaned toward converting the amount into GBP based on the price at the time of the trial for compensation. This case is considered the first time a UK court has directly addressed the question of "whether debt can be repaid directly in BTC," highlighting the legal gap in how contractual obligations involving digital assets are executed after they are recognized as property.
